Bonefishing Key West
Report Date: October 10, 2009
October flats fishing in Key West, Fl. To date the fishing has been terrific. I’m finding lots of bonefish on the shallow flats. Keeping a live crab for the few permit we see along the way while I pole the flat. I tend to focus on bonefish this time of year. This can be the best month for these fish down here in the keys. Looking for these guys in very shallow water, and if we are luck enough we get to find some tailing. This is exciting stuff to see them tailing, however, don’t be surprised if I kick you off the boat so you can chase one. Only joking, however, many times as we are finding the schools of bonefish they head up into shallow water, more shallow than I can pole the boat through. So you are then faced with the choice as the angler to follow them and get a cast or stay on the boat and wait for the next fish or school which ever the case. Either way it is good stuff chasing these bonefish down here in Key West, Fl.
