The first week of may-Tarpon fishing in key west
Report Date: May 5, 2013
So far action is below average for key west tarpon fishing.
We had a mild cold front pass through key west a few days ago, which left key west quite saturated with rain...
This large amount of rain and heavy northwest wind cooled the water temperature down a few degrees. This did not make the tarpon happy. The ocean side fishing seemed to slow way down. Forcing us to seek tarpon in the back country. Definitely some fish around, however, you have to put in the time to find them.
This week we are all hoping for a fresh push of fish.
As a warmer and more stable air mass flows over south Florida and the Florida keys.
