"Flounder" , Catches Giant Tarpon in Key West, Fl.
Report Date: May 26, 2003
One of my regular?s from the Crevalle family is back in town. He and his buddies were down earlier in the month. While all the members of the family are excellent anglers, ?Flounder? Crevalle is the best.
We jumped two Tarpon and then hooked up a ?Hog?. We were on the fish for 75 minutes before we were able to lure the critter onto the flats. It took another 20 minutes, but we finally got the Monster along side the boat before I pulled the hook and released the Tarpon. It was one of the strongest fish we have ever hooked up. At the boat, after a 95- minute fight I was still not able to move the head of the 135 lb Tarpon. Some fish!
I have fished ?Flounder? ever since I have been a guide. We have hooked many great Tarpon. However, this one was by far the strongest fish pound for pound that we have ever encountered.
My Dad (?Flounder?) sends his best wishes to Dana (?Squirrel?), Doug (?Whale?), Grant (?Peaches?) and the rest of the Crevalle family. We look forward to seeing you back on the flats.
