Looking forward to another awesome month of fishing down here on the flats West of Key West.
Report Date: May 1, 2003
Once again April has proved to be an all around good month for fishing the flats of Key West, and May can only get better.
The Permit fishing was good. Although not found as frequently in April due to there off shore spawning, we still saw plenty of fish on the flats and managed to boat quite a few caught on spinning tackle and flies
The Bonefishing has been decent, with a fair amount found on the proper tides and conditions. Caught one up around the 10lb category, while chasing down a couple of Permit.
The Tarpon fishing has been fantastic and progressively getting better every day. The Tarpon are beginning to migrate into the flats from the deeper water. Great fishing early morning and at night, with plenty of shots at fish laid up fish in the shallows.
I look for May to follow suit with the preceding years, leading the way for some off the greatest Tarpon fishing ever. Permit will be back in full force and as the water temperature climbs so will the amount of Bonefish we see. Looking forward to another awesome month of fishing down here on the flats West of Key West.
As always,
Lots of luck
Lets go fish!
