Key West fishing for the New Year.
Report Date: January 1, 2011
The flats fishing has been a bit slow with the cooler water temps. So we have been mixing things up a bit and running off shore on the calm days, and chasing Bonito. These bonito love to eat flies, or small bucktail jigs. They pull hard, and fight just about like a tuna. Plenty of good fun.
Was down in the Marquesas yesterday, and we caught as many mackerel as we could stand, and then headed up onto the flats. The water was still cold, however, we had several shots at permit, caught some jacks on rays, and captured and broke off several barracuda. Not the best fishing by a long shot, however, plenty of action to keep us happy.
