Key West flats fishing
Report Date: November 16, 2009
Fall is upon us down here in the Keys.
After 9 days of bad weather cause by hurricane Ida, and a high pressure system colliding, I can say we are gearing up for fall fishing.
On nice days a few bonefish or tarpon, however, most often now looking for permit, big jacks, barracuda, and shark.
Sight fishing the flats with an opportunity to catch any and or all of the above. The big jacks will follow the sting rays across the flats, this can be a great fish whether your are fly casting a merkin, or pitching a live crab. Keep and eye out for the occasional cobia surfing the sting ray's back. The permit are happy these days, as are the cudas with the introduction of cooler water temperatures.
Give me a call if you want to get down here and fish the flats off Key West.
